Unbeaten US 2YO Kantharos To Stud At Vinery Florida

Monday, 6th December 2010

Unbeaten multiple graded stakes-winning 2YO colt Kantharos (Lion Heart-Contessa Halo, by Southern Halo) will begin his stud career in 2011 at Vinery Florida in Summerfield for US$5,000 reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stable retired Kantharos in late August after he fractured a leg fracture while galloping at Saratoga Race Course. He won his 3 starts by a combined 28.5-lengths & Vinery president Tom Ludt declared: "We think the breeders in Florida will love Kantharos. He is an attractive individual with a very viable pedigree. It was apparent to anyone who saw him that he had talent." Jackson bought Kantharos for US$250,000 during the Ocala Breeders' March sale of selected 2YOs-in-training: he debuted with an 11.75-lengths victory at Churchill Downs 2 months later, followed by a 9.5-lengths win in July's Gr3 Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs & then a 7.25-lengths victory in August's Gr2 Saratoga Special Stakes.
