US Sire Kitten's Joy Cut 37.5% To $25k At Ramsey Farm
US 2004 Champion Turf Horse & multiple Gr1-winning 9YO 2nd-crop stallion Kitten's Joy (El Prado-Kitten's First, by Lear Fan) has had his service fee cut 37.5% to US$25,000 for the 2011 season (from $US$40,000 this year) at Ramsey Farm in Kentucky. Kitten's Joy currently "ranks 7th on the 2nd-crop sires list (with more than US$2.3 million in progeny earnings) & is also a leading sire this year by number of 2YO winners with 22" noted bloodhorse.com. Ken Ramsey said the decision to lower Kitten's Joy's stud fee was "in response to the economy & the slowdown in the horse business in general".
