Ortensia HK Trackwork Pleases Noonan

Thursday, 9th December 2010

Australian 5YO mare Ortensia (Testa Rossa-Aerate's Pick, by Picnicker) worked on Sha Tin turf yesterday morning (running her last 400m in 22.5sec) in preparation for Sunday's Gr1 HK International Sprint (1200m) & trainer Tony Noonan commented: "I was pleased with what she did. Her work has continued to improve each day. I'm happy with where she's at right now. I know she wanted to look around in her work, but she's always a bit like that. The blinkers go on raceday & that sorts that out. As to her chances on Sunday, well I'm confident enough that she will acquit herself well. The race should be run to suit with good speed on. I've been watching this race for many years & now it's great to be a part of it. I'm sure that with the right tempo it is the right race for her. She's eaten well over the past few days & I think her weight is spot on now, after losing 23kg on the way over. She was 497kg this morning & her ideal weight range is around that mark, around 500kg. She was 534kg when she returned to racing in the Patinack at Flemington & took plenty of benefit from that run."
