Ranger Wins WA St Leger

Vinery Stud's 6-time Gr1-winning stallion Testa Rossa (Perugino-Bo Dapper, by Sir Dapper) added a black-type success (& 30th individual stakes-winner) when favoured 4YO gelding Ranger (Testa Rossa-Marrich Bay, by Old Spice) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $100,000 Listed WA St Leger (2100m) for 3YOs & 4YOs at Ascot. Ranger (ridden by William Pike for trainer Grant Williams) defeated fellow 4YO gelding Amelias Dancer (Danzero-Yodeller, by El Moxie) & 3YO gelding Hoegaarden (Flying Spur-Inspect, by Integra). Ranger (a Bob Peters home-bred) now has 3 wins & 5 placings (including November's Gr3 R.J.Peters Stakes over 1500m at Ascot & March's Listed T.J.Smith Trophy over 1600m at Ascot, plus 2009's Listed Aquanita Stakes over 1800m at Ascot) from 11 starts for $175,350 earnings.
