Snow Fairy Wins HK Gr1 International Cup

Monday, 13th December 2010

Boom Irish-bred 3YO filly Snow Fairy (Intikhab-Woodland Dream, by Charnwood Forest) notched her 4th Gr1 triumph of the year when she motored from the tail of the field to grab victory by a neck against older male rivals in the HK$20 million (A$2.667m) Gr1 International Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin. Snow Fairy (ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer Ed Dunlop) defeated German-bred 4YO gelding Irian (Tertullian Iberi, by Rainbow Quest) & NZ-bred 8YO gelding Packing Winner (Zabeel- Musical Note, by Marscay). Snow Fairy was a 1,800 guineas (A$3,000) bargain at the 2008 Tattersalls Ireland Flat Sale. Overall she now has 6 wins (also including last start's Japanese Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup over 2200m at Kyoto on November 14, July's Gr1 Irish Oaks over 2400m at The Curragh, June's Gr1 English Oaks over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs & May's UK Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Goodwood) & 4 placings (including August's Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks over 12 furlongs at York & 2009's UK Gr3 Prestige Stakes over 7 furlongs at Goodwood) from 13 starts.
