In the UK overnight, former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris) added a black-type success when Irish-bred 5YO gelding Spirit Of Sharjah (Invincible Spirit-Rathbawn Realm, by Doulab) scored a 1-length victory in the £37,000 (A$59,000) Listed Sunbury Stakes (7 furlongs on all-weather) at Kempton Park. Spirit Of Sharjah (ridden by Jimmy Quinn for trainer Julia Feilden) defeated 4YO mare Mosqueras Romance (Rock Of Gibraltar-Mosquera, by Acatenango) & Irish-bred 7YO entire Duff (Spinning World-Shining Prospect, by Lycius) who won this race 2 years ago. Spirit Of Sharjah was an 8,000 guineas (A$13,200) weanling at the 2005 UK Tattersalls December sale; overall he now has 7 wins (also including April's Listed Leicestershire Stakes over 7 furlongs at Leicester & 2007's Listed Aubigny Stakes over 5 furlongs at Goodwood) & 6 placings (including 2007's Gr2 Norfolk Stakes over 5 furlongs at Royal Ascot & Gr2 Flying Childers Stakes over 5 furlongs at Doncaster) from 38 starts.
