Thursday, 16th December 2010

Perth Racing chairman Ted van Heemst has bought a 50% share in Coolmore's 2009 champion Irish 2YO & recently-retired Gr1-winning 3YO stallion Alfred Nobel (Danehill Dancer-Glinting Desert, by Desert Prince). As a result Alfred Nobel will start his stud career at Coolmore's County Tipperary headquarters early next year, then shuttle to Bullsbrook-based Lynward Park in Western Australia. Alfred Nobel cost 220,000 guineas (A$363,000) at the 2008 UK Tattersalls October Yearling Sale & subsequently recorded 3 wins (including both 2009's Irish Gr1 Phoenix Stakes over 6 furlongs & Gr2 Railway Stakes over 6 furlongs at The Curragh) & 3 placings (including his final run in May's Irish Gr3 Greenlands Stakes) from 10 starts for £244,633 (A$391,000) earnings.
