English-Irish Oaks Winner Sariska 1st Cover By Galileo

Friday, 17th December 2010

Lady Bamford's home-bred 4YO mare Sariska (Pivotal-Maycocks Bay, by Muhtarram) who won both last season's Gr1 English Oaks (12 furlongs) at Epsom Downs & Gr1 Irish Oaks (12 furlongs) at The Curragh "has been booked" to former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo "for her 1st covering" reported racingpost.com. Sariska was retired in September, after refusing to race for the 2nd consecutive time in France's Gr1 Prix Vermeille at Longchamp; at her previous start, Sariska similarly refused to leave the starting stalls in August's UK Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks. Sariska (who won the 2009 Cartier Award as European Champion 3YO Filly) retired with 5 wins (also including May's UK Gr3 Middleton Stakes over 10.5 furlongs at York & 2009's Gr3 Musidora Stakes over 10.5 furlongs at York) & 3 placings (including June's UK Gr1 Coronation Cup over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs & both 2009's UK Gr1 Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newmarket & Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks over 12 furlongs at York) from 11 starts for £728,724 (A$1.166m) earnings.
