In the US, multiple Gr1-winning boom 3rd-season sire & Darley shuttler Medaglia D'Oro (El Prado-Cappucino Bay, by Bailjumper) added a black-type success when 4YO entire Alma D'Oro (Medaglia d'Oro-Brenda D S, by Fortunate Prospect) scored a 4.25-lengths victory in the US$58,800 Listed Forty Niner Stakes (8 furlongs) at Aqueduct in New York. Alma D'Oro (ridden by Javier Castellano for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated 4YO gelding Ben's Cat (Parker's Storm Cat-Twofox, by Thirty Eight Paces) & 5YO entire More Than A Reason (More Than Ready-Sab's Reason, by Sabona). Alma D'Oro (a US$75,000 weanling at the 2006 Keeneland November Sale) took his record to 5 wins (also including October's Listed Buddy Delp Memorial Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park) & 5 placings (including September's Listed DTHA Governors Day Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park, July's Carpenter Memorial Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park & May's Listed Joseph French Memorial Stakes over 8 furlongs at Delaware Park) from 16 starts for US$198,538 earnings.
