Duff Approached To Lead Aust Jumps Association
Former Racing Victoria chairman Graham Duff “has been approached to lead the Australian Jumping Racing Association,” reported The Herald-Sun. Duff confirmed he'd been asked to take over from Rodney Rae “who is expected to stand down as AJRA chairman at the annual meeting in April”. Duff explained: “Certainly, I'm considering it. I understand Rodney Rae wants to step down & I've been asked if I'm interested. I need to know if I can commit to it. People who know me know that I don't do things by halves.” Duff (who was RV chairman for 6 years) said the election of Victoria’s Baillieu State Government had “given the jumps industry greater security on its survival” & declared jumps racing was “an integral part of the industry. If you are going to be dedicated to the industry, you have to be dedicated to all of it. I don't believe in the separation of jumps racing from the rest of the industry. If we allow it to be cherry-picked, then it becomes a death of a thousand cuts, not just jumps racing but racing generally. I make no bones about the fact that I'm an avid supporter of jumps racing.”
