3rd-Generation US Hall-Of-Fame Trainer Elliott Burch Dies
US 3rd-generation Hall-Of-Fame trainer Elliott Burch “died of pneumonia” aged 86 at Newport Hospital in Rhode Island, reported bloodhorse.com. Burch (whose father Preston Burch & grandfather William Burch were both Hall-Of-Fame trainers) served in the US Army Signal Corps during World War II, before subsequently training for more 30 years; he was inducted into the US Racing Hall-Of-Fame in 1980. Three of his star gallopers were named US Horse-Of-The-Year: Sword Dancer (1959), Arts And Letters (1969) & Fort Marcy (1970); in addition, Burch also trained champions Bowl Of Flowers, Run The Gantlet & Key To The Mint.
