Canberra Appoints UK Track Manager

Thursday, 3rd February 2011

Canberra Racing Club confirmed the appointment of former UK Jockey Club operations manager Tom Lovell-Stagg as its new racecourse manager at Thoroughbred Park, filling the vacancy left when James Cataldo moved to Warwick Farm in Sydney. Canberra chief executive Peter Stubbs noted: "Tom's wealth of experience at a large training centre with a number of varying surfaces will compliment the training & racing operations at Thoroughbred Park. His knowledge, in particular, of different types of synthetic racing surfaces will enhance the track surfaces at Canberra, particularly due to the fact Thoroughbred Park's Acton Track is one of the best synthetic tracks in the country & he will play a major role in the club's on-going development." Lovell-Stagg was responsible for the 2nd largest racehorse training centre in England, which facilitated 600 racehorses in active training.
