NZB Select Yearlings Day-1: NZ$51.8k Average

Thursday, 3rd February 2011

Overall during the opening session of the NZ Bloodstock Select Sale, 139 yearlings sold for NZ$7,208,000 at an average of NZ$51,856 (almost on par with the final Select Sale average last year of NZ$52,346) & a median of NZ$44,000 (10% ahead of last year). The clearance rate was 69%. NZB co-managing director Petrea Vela commented: "Buyers are reporting that the market is still very competitive at this session & quality lots are still tough to buy. A few more local buyers have made their presence felt today which is encouraging, but there are also a number of international buyers who have stayed on from the Premier Sale hoping to find some value."
