UK Tatts Feb Sale: Average Up 51%

Friday, 4th February 2011

Overall at the Tattersalls February Sale, 164 lots sold for 1,672,300 guineas (A$2.676m) which was up 69% on the corresponding session in 2010. The average of 10,197 guineas (A$16,300) was up 51% & the median of 4,500 guineas (A$7,200) was up 29%. Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony commented: "It is always good to make a positive start to the year & the 2011 Tattersalls February Sale has produced improved figures across the board & lively international trade from start to finish. Turnover, average & median have all made significant gains over last year & the clearance rate of 79% is the highest ever at this sale. . . . . Without doubt the market remains testing & we all continue to face plenty of challenges, but the crowd of buyers at Tattersalls today should be a source of encouragement for the industry."
