Centennial Park Wins Expressway Stakes

Windsor Park Stud's Gr1-winning Australian-bred sire Thorn Park (Spinning World-Joy, by Bluebird) added a group success when 5YO gelding Centennial Park (Thorn Park-Trephina, by Last Tycoon) returned from a 14-weeks spell to motor home from the tail of the field & score a 0.75-length victory in the $200,000 weight-for-age Gr2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Centennial Park (ridden by Corey Brown for trainer David Payne) defeated 4YO entire Love Conquers All (Mossman-She's A Meanie, by Prince Salieri) & favoured 7YO mare Hot Danish (Nothin' Leica Dane-Hot N Breezy, by Zephyr Zip). Centennial Park (passed-in for $140,000 at the 2007 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney) now has 7 wins (also including both 2009's Gr3 AAMI Business Insurance Stakes over 1400m at Flemington & Listed Darby Munro Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill) & 5 placings (including 2010's Gr2 Shannon Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill, Gr2 Ajax Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill, Gr3 Chatham Stakes over 1400m at Flemington & Listed Starlight Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill) from 24 starts for $664,350 earnings.
