Jimmy Choux Wins NZ Waikato Guineas

In New Zealand, Windsor Park Stud's Gr1-winning Australian-bred sire Thorn Park (Spinning World-Joy, by Bluebird) added a group success when favoured colt Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park-Cierzo, by Centaine) scored a 2.25-lengths victory in NZ$70,000 Gr3 Waikato Guineas (2000m) for 3YOs at Te Rapa. Jimmy Choux (ridden by Jonathan Riddell for trainer John Bary) defeated Australian-bred geldings Yin Tang Master (Fastnet Rock-Crazy Fling, by Alysheba) & Historian (Choisir-Cyclonic, by Marauding). Jimmy Choux now has 8 wins (also including last month's Gr3 Wellington Stakes over 1600m at Trentham, plus 2010's Gr1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas over 1600m at Riccarton Park, Gr2 NZ Bloodstock Insurance Hawke's Bay Guineas over 1400m at Hastings, Gr2 Westbury Stud Wakefield Challenge Stakes over 1200m at Trentham & Gr2 Great Northern Guineas over 1600m at Ellerslie) & 5 placings (including 2010's Gr1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes over 1400m at Awapuni, Gr1 Auckland Diamond Stakes over 1200m at Ellerslie & Listed Wanganui Guineas over 1340m, plus 2009's Listed Weetwood Grange Stakes over 1100m at Te Rapa) from 15 starts for NZ$921,550 earnings.
