Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale: Average Down 3%
Overall in Kentucky, 183 lots sold for US$2,821,500 (down 7.6% on last year's 192 sold for US$3,052,600). The average of US$15,418 was down 3% (last year US$15,899) but the median of US$5,700 was up 14% (last year US$5,000). Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning summed up: "Hopefully, we're starting to see some increased interest from buyers. It's not dramatic & across the board, but I think people are beginning to have a little bit more confidence in the world, and, hopefully as a result of that, in the thoroughbred industry. Obviously, there was strong demand for quality offerings. It was consistent with sales in the past year and, frankly, the past several years."
