Magic Millions Perth Day-1: Average Down 2.1%

Thursday, 10th February 2011

Overall on Day-1 at Magic Millions Perth, 77 yearlings sold for $3,580,500 (down 6.9% on last year's 81 sold for $3,847,500). The average of $46,500 was down 2.1% (last year $47,500) & the median remained the same at $40,000. The clearance rate was 75.5% (last year 77%). Magic Millions acting managing director David Chester commented: "As was the case on the Gold Coast in January, quality yearlings attracted strong interest from buyers. It was pleasing to see the average, gross & clearance rates hold up to last year's 1st session. Last year's 1st session was the strongest of the auction & last year's Session 1-3 rounded out with an average price of about $41,000 - so it's heartening to be ahead of that at this stage."
