Magic Millions Perth Day-2: $180k Oratorio Colt

Friday, 11th February 2011

In the auction ring, leading Perth horseman David Harrison paid top price of $180,000 for a colt by Mungrup Stud's triple stakes-winning 3rd-crop sire Oratorio (the 9th foal out of unraced 16-year-old Vain Rancher mare Rancherpara) during last night's 2nd session at the 4-day Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale at Belmont Park. The colt was consigned by Toreby Park (as agent for Mungrup Stud clients) & Harrison enthused: "He's a nice, big & strong Oratorio colt. He's a lot like (8-time-winning current stable star) Waratah's Secret. He was my pick of the sale & I'm delighted to have been able to buy him." The colt's dam Rancherpara is a half-sister to winner Rijinsky (dam of stakes-winner Star Risca). In addition Rancherpara's previous foals include triple stakes-winner Metallic Storm.
