Street Cry Adds UAE Gr3

Friday, 11th February 2011

In Dubai overnight, Gr1 Dubai World Cup-winning Darley shuttler Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a black-type success (& 44th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum's US-bred colt Splash Point (Street Cry-Dianehill, by Danehill) came from the rear of the field to score a 1-length victory in the US$250,000 Gr3 UAE 2000 Guineas (1600m on all-weather) for 3YOs at Meydan. Splash Point (ridden by Mickael Barzalona for trainer Mahmoud Al Zarooni) defeated favoured South African-bred colt Zanzamar (Fort Wood-Zanakiya, by Doyoun) & UK-bred gelding Krypton Factor (Kyllachy-Cool Question, by Polar Falcon). Splash Point (a US$300,000 yearling at the 2009 Keeneland September Sale) took his record to 2 wins & 3 runners-up from 5 starts; he is a grand-son of US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Very Subtle.
