Catapulted Wins Rubiton Stakes

Deceased Gr1 Golden Slipper-winning Yarraman Park sire Catbird (Danehill-Fitting, by Marscay) added a group success when top-weighted 5YO gelding Catapulted (Catbird-Siren Miss, by Umatilla) returned from a 15-weeks spell to score a 1-length victory in the $125,000 Gr3 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield. Favourite Catapulted (ridden by Michael Rodd for trainer Mark Kavanagh) defeated Avenue (Anabaa-Virage, by Kenmare) & Solar Charged (Charge Forward-Soul Singer, by Danehill). Catapulted (a $90,000 yearling consigned by Mill Park at the 2007 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale) now has 10 wins (also including 2010's Gr2 QTC Cup over 1300m at Eagle Farm, Gr3 evright.com Stakes over 1100m at Morphettville & Listed Henry Bucks Straight Six over 1200m at Flemington, plus 2009's Listed Marion Stakes over 1200m at Morphettville) & 4 runners-up (including 2010's Gr1 The Goodwood over 1200m at Morphettville, Gr2 Gilgai Stakes over 1200m at Flemington & Gr3 McEwen Stakes over 1000m at Moonee Valley) from 19 starts for $605,975 earnings.
