Diamond To Pegasus Wins Canonbury Stakes

Monday, 14th February 2011

Former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr Prospector-Angel Fever, by Danzig) added a juvenile black-type success (& 53rd individual stakes-winner world-wide) when gelded son Diamond To Pegasus (Fusaichi Pegasus-Exo, by Hennessy) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed Canonbury Stakes (1100m) for 2YO colts & geldings at Randwick. Diamond To Pegasus (ridden by Nathan Berry for trainer Tony Sergi) scored by a nose (& then survived a protest from the runner-up) from favoured colt Written Consent (Written Tycoon-Hill Street Blues, by Octagonal) with a further neck to fellow colt Wild And Proud (Snowland-Blab, by Flying Spur). Diamond To Pegasus (a $7,000 yearling at the 2010 Inglis Winter Thoroughbred Sale) took his record to 2 wins from 3 starts for $74,700 earnings.
