Monday, 14th February 2011

Arrowfield Stud stallion & former Australian Champion Sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added a black-type success (& 79th individual stakes-winner, following 78th earlier in the day with juvenile Satin Shoes: see report below) when daughter Miss Gai Flyer (Flying Spur-Power Of One, by Gilded Time) returned from a 22-weeks spell to score a 2.25-lengths victory in the $100,000 Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) for 3YO fillies at Caulfield. Miss Gai Flyer (ridden by Jason Maskiell for trainer Peter Moody) defeated Miss Elvee (Elvstroem-Luxapal, by Kenny's Best Pal) & Pinker Pinker (Reset-Miss Marion, by Success Express). Miss Gai Flyer (a $250,000 yearling consigned by Torryburn Stud at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) took her record to 3 wins & a runner-up (in 2010's Gr2 Karrakatta Plate over 1200m at Ascot) from 7 starts for $192,088 earnings. Meanwhile Torryburn Stud is offering a Fastnet Rock 3/4-brother to Miss Gai Flyer at the upcoming Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
