Satin Shoes Wins Widden Stakes

Monday, 14th February 2011

Arrowfield Stud stallion & former Australian Champion Sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added a juvenile black-type success (& 78th individual stakes-winner, followed by a 79th later in the day with 3YO Miss Gai Flyer: see report above) when unbeaten daughter Satin Shoes (Flying Spur-Star Satire, by Volksraad) returned from a 17-weeks spell to score a 1-length victory in the $100,000 Listed Widden Stakes (1100m) for 2YO fillies at Randwick. Favourite Satin Shoes (ridden by Hugh Bowman for trainer Clarry Conners) defeated Elite Falls (More Than Ready-Niagara Falls, by Danehill) & Shared Reflections (Umatilla-Ulap, by Hurricane Sky). Satin Shoes (a $700,000 yearling consigned by Cressfield at the 2010 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 2 wins from 2 starts for $122,000 earnings.
