Monday, 14th February 2011

Deceased former Vinery Stud shuttler & in recent years permanently Australian-based stallion Red Ransom (Roberto-Arabia, by Damascus) added a Gr1 triumph when 5YO mare & reigning Australian Horse-Of-The-Year Typhoon Tracy (Red Ransom-Tracy's Element, by Last Tycoon) notched her 6th Gr1 win with a half-head victory in the $400,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Sportingbet C.F.Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in Melbourne to take this race for the 2nd successive year. Favourite Typhoon Tracy (ridden by Luke Nolen for trainer Peter Moody) defeated 5YO gelding Heart Of Dreams (Show A Heart-Academy Of Dreams, by Royal Academy) who also finished runner-up last year & fellow 5YO mare Ortensia (Testa Ross-Aerate's Pick, by Picnicker). Typhoon Tracy took her record to 11 wins (also including 2010's Gr1 Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill, Gr1 Futurity Stakes over 1600m at Caulfield & Gr1 C.F.Orr Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, plus 2009's Gr1 Myer Classic over 1600m at Flemington, Gr1 Coolmore Classic over 1500m at Rosehill, Gr2 Tristarc Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, Gr3 Schweppervescence Trophy over 1400m at Flemington & Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) & 5 placings (in last month's Gr2 Australia Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley, plus 2010's Gr1 Myer Classic over 1600m at Flemington & Gr2 Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley, as well as 2009's Gr2 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600m at Flemington & Gr2 Liston Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield) from 20 starts for $2,438,600 earnings.
