Albion Park Injunction Stalls Qld Infrastructure Plan

Friday, 18th February 2011

Racing Queensland chairman Bob Bentley confirmed "progress on the Industry Infrastructure Plan has been held up due to the former Queensland Harness Racing board seeking an injunction to prevent the sale of Albion Park". Bentley commented: "It is unfortunate that a few people chose to take a course of action to thwart the delivery of the Industry Infrastructure Plan that stands to benefit so many throughout the racing industry in Queensland. Feedback that was provided & collated late last year indicated widespread industry support for the implementation of the plan. This has been conveyed to the Queensland Government, which no doubt has a range of pressing issues that have stemmed from the recent catastrophic occurrences witnessed in many parts of Queensland." Bentley called on the industry to be "patient while the application for an injunction is dealt with in the Supreme Court & the Government can clear more pressing issues to properly consider the Industry Infrastructure Plan".
