Aust-Breds 2nd & 3rd In UAE Gr2

In Dubai overnight, Australia-bred horses finished 2nd & 3rd in the US$250,000 UAE Gr2 Al Fahidi Fort (1600m on turf) at Meydan behind US-bred 5YO entire Derbaas (Seeking The Gold-Sultana, by Storm Cat). Derbass (ridden by Richard Hills for trainer Ali Rashid Al Raihe) scored by a half-length from fast-finishing Australian-bred 4YO mare Raihana (Elusive Quality-Esubooh, by Sunday Silence) with a further 1.25-lengths to Australian-bred 5YO entire Le Drakkar (Anabaa-My Mo Rally, by Mi Preferido). Derbass took his record to 5 wins & 4 placings from 18 starts. Raihana was retained to race by her breeder Sheikh Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, who purchased her unraced dam Esubooh (Sunday Silence-Felicitation, by Danehill) at the 2003 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney for $350,000. And Le Drakkarwas a $155,000 yearling consigned from Widden Stud at the 2007 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne.
