Northern Covers By Trippi Offered In South Africa

In South Africa, US-bred 14-year-old stallion Trippi (End Sweep-Jealous Appeal, by Valid Appeal) who was based at Ocala Stud Farms in Florida until 2008 (when he was purchased by Johann & Gaynor Rupert's L'Ormarins Stud in South Africa) "will be offered to breeders to cover mares on northern-hemisphere time this year," reported racingpost.com.au. Since the sale, Trippi's US-bred stock "have flourished on the track: Jealous Again won the UK Gr1 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, R Heat Lightning landed the US Gr1 Spinaway Stakes juvenile Gr3-winner Gourmet Dinner looks a promising 3YO for this season". John Freeman, who manages Trippi's stud career in South Africa, confirmed: "Following Trippi's continuing success with horses like R Heat Lightning & Gourmet Dinner last season & his continuing inexorable rise in the US sire rankings, we have had enquiries from America about how they might breed to him on northern hemisphere time."
