Aust-Bred Better Than Ever Wins Singapore Gr3

In Singapore yesterday, former Arrowfield Stud shuttler & Japan's 2004 Champion 1st Season Sire French Deputy (Deputy Minister-Mitterand, by Hold Your Peace) added a group success when Australian-bred 4YO gelding Better Than Ever (French Deputy-Songfest, by Unbridled's Song) scored a 1.75 lengths victory in the Gr3 Three Rings Trophy (1400m) at Kranji to claim this race for the 2nd successive year. Better Than Ever (ridden by Saimee Jumaat for trainer Laurie Laxon) led in an Australian-bred trifecta by defeating fellow Australian-bred 4YO geldings Merchant (Fubu-So Fine, by So Factual) & Black Ice (Mugharreb-Lady Migaloo, by General Nediym). Better Than Ever (a NZ$80,000 yearling at the 2008 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) now has 13 wins from 14 starts (also including 2010's Gr1 Raffles Cup over 1800m, Gr1 Panasonic Kranji Mile over 1600m, Gr3 Jumbo Jet Trophy over 1400m, Gr1 Singapore Guineas over 1600m, Gr2 3YO Classic over 1400m, Gr3 3YO Sprint over 1200m & Gr3 Three Rings Trophy over 1400m, plus 2009's Gr3 Steward's Cup over 1400m).
