Black Caviar Now Rated Above Makybe Diva & Sunline
Black Caviar "is now rated better than modern legends Makybe Diva & Sunline, with Timeform elevating her 2 points clear of that duo at a rating of 131" reported The Courier Mail. Timeform's Australian assessor Gary Crispe said the figure "could have been even higher had Luke Nolen not eased her down in the final 100m" & declared: "I think the 131 figure is easily sustainable. I know this wasn't a vintage field & a headwind meant the time wasn't quick, but the form & profiles I have done make me very comfortable with her on that mark." The rating makes Black Caviar 3rd to only Manikato (136) & Vain (134) in the Australian sprint ranks, but the best of modern-day mares. Of the females to win Australian Horse-Of-The-Year, Makybe Diva & Sunline both had 129 ratings, Miss Andretti 127, Let's Elope 126 & Typhoon Tracy 124. Jockey Glyn Schofield (rider of Lightning runner-up Hay List) has ridden in South Africa, Hong Kong, Dubai & Europe; he commented bluntly: "I was riding in Hong Kong & going up against Silent Witness when he was toying with his rivals; she won just as easy, if not easier than him. I haven't seen a horse do that in a race of that quality in my time. I was just in awe of her. I'd hate to think how quick she could go if Luke (Nolen) really shook her up."
