Veracious Wins T.J.Smith Trophy

Deceased former Barridale Stud stallion Systematic (Rainbow Quest-Sensation, by Soviet Star) added a black-type success when favoured gelding Veracious (Systematic-Royal Lace, by Serheed) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $80,000 Listed T.J.Smith Trophy (1600m) for 3YO colts & geldings at Ascot. Veracious (ridden by Patrick Carbery for trainer Trevor Andrews) defeated fellow geldings The Tenby Friar (Blackfriars-Timeless Tenby, by Tenby) & Big Josh (Blackfriars-Market Wrap, by Pricelessly). Veracious now has 2 wins & 5 placings (including 2010's Gr3 Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic over 1400m at Ascot) from 11 starts for $110,250 earnings.
