Giant's Causeway Adds US Black-Type

Tuesday, 22nd February 2011

Former Coolmore shuttler Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat-Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) added a US black-type success when front-running 4YO mare Quiet Giant (Giant's Causeway-Quiet Dance, by Quiet American) notched her 3rd successive stakes-win & slaughtered her rivals by 9-lengths in the US$61,750 Listed Rare Treat Stakes (9 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Aqueduct in New York. Hot favourite Quiet Giant (ridden by Ramon Dominguez for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated fellow 4YO mares Mined Over Matter (Mineshaft-Melisma, by Well Decorated) & Opus A (Read The Footnotes-Lady Nelson, by Sea Hero). Quiet Giant (a half-sister to 2005 US Horse-Of-The-Year Saint Liam) now has 5 wins (also including last month's Listed Lady On The Run Stakes over 8 furlongs at Aqueduct & 2010's Listed Cheap Seats Stakes over 8 furlongs at Aqueduct) & a runner-up (in 2010's Polly's Jet Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park) from 8 starts for US$172,050 earnings.
