Hawk Wing Adds US Gr3

Wednesday, 23rd February 2011

In the US, multiple Gr1-winning former Coolmore shuttler Hawk Wing (Woodman-La Lorgnette, by Val De L'Orne) added a graded-stakes success when Irish-bred daughter Cambina (Hawk Wing-Await, by Peintre Celebre) motored home from last-in-running to snatch victory by a nose in the US$100,000 Gr3 La Habra Stakes (6.5 furlongs on turf) for 3YO fillies at Santa Anita Park in California. Cambina (ridden by Garrett Gomez for trainer Jeff Bonde) defeated fellow Irish-bred Quiet Oasis (Oasis Dream-Silent Heir, by Sunday Silence) & Cathy's Crunches (West Acre-Miss Atticus, by Atticus). Overall Cambina now has 2 wins & a runner-up (in 2010's Irish Listed Flame Of Tara Stakes over 6 furlongs at The Curragh) from 6 starts for $85,367 earnings.
