Moonee Valley Names New Stakes After Typhoon Tracy

Moonee Valley Racing Club announced its 24th black-type race is to be known as the Listed Typhoon Tracy Stakes (for 3YO fillies), with its inaugural running this Friday evening over 1200m. The recently-retired Australian Horse-Of-The-Year & 6-time Gr1-winner began her career with victory on debut at Moonee Valley under lights in September 2008. Typhoon Tracy won her final start in the Gr1 Sportingbet C.F.Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 12 (to take that race for the 2nd successive year) & retired with an overall record of 11 wins (also including 2010's Gr1 Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill, Gr1 Futurity Stakes over 1600m at Caulfield & Gr1 C.F.Orr Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, plus 2009's Gr1 Myer Classic over 1600m at Flemington, Gr1 Coolmore Classic over 1500m at Rosehill, Gr2 Tristarc Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, Gr3 Schweppervescence Trophy over 1400m at Flemington & Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) & 5 placings (in last month's Gr2 Australia Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley, plus 2010's Gr1 Myer Classic over 1600m at Flemington & Gr2 Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley, as well as 2009's Gr2 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600m at Flemington & Gr2 Liston Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield) from 20 starts for $2,438,600 earnings.
