Tabcorp Signs Deal For UK & Ireland

Friday, 25th February 2011

In a deal which will further expand the provision of Australasian racing product (thoroughbred, harness and greyhound) through Tabcorp's Sky Racing channels, Tabcorp has signed a long-term deal with UK-based Satellite Information Services, the leading supplier of television programming and data services to the UK and Ireland betting industry, broadcasting live pictures and data to more than 10,000 retail betting outlets. Although Australian racing has been available in UK betting shops for a number of years, the new deal is a potential precursor to co-mingling of bets placed in the UK on Australasian racing into Tabcorp's betting pools. Tabcorp already co-mingles bets with Singapore, New Zealand and South Africa pools. Tabcorp managing director of Wagering, David Attenborough, commented: "The longer term benefits will be heightened through co-mingling, which is proven to attract new money to pools. Tabcorp's experience with South African, New Zealand and Singaporean pooling highlights this. Another positive aspect of this arrangement is that we have secured a minimum return, which locks in new funding to the Australasian racing bodies that financially benefit from the export of their racing." Tabcorp manages Australian racing's international rights and exports Australian racing to 30 countries.
