Escadaire Wins Cyril Flower Stakes

NZ Waikato Stud sire O'Reilly (Last Tycoon-Courtza, by Pompeii Court) added a black-type success when 7YO gelding Escadaire (O'Reilly-Escada, by Centaine) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $80,000 Listed Cyril Flower Stakes (1200m) at Ascot. Escadaire (ridden by Kyra Yuill for trainer Raquel Mills) scored by a nose from 5YO entire Phenomenons (Giant's Causeway-Demanding, by Octagonal) with a further short-head to 4YO gelding Wolfe Dreams (Sequalo-Marchen, by Rory's Jester). Escadaire (a $100,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 10 wins (also including 2010's Listed Miss Andretti Stakes over 1200m at Ascot & 2009's Listed Belmont Newmarket over 1200m at Belmont Park) & 19 placings (including 2010's Listed WATC Stakes over 1100m at Ascot, plus 2009's Listed Birthday Stakes over 1200m at Belmont Park & Listed Goodwood Sprint over 1300m at Belmont Park, as well as 2008's Listed Hannan's Handicap over 1400m at Kalgoorlie & 2007's Listed PDF Food Services Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield) from 42 starts for $460,635 earnings.
