Montana Flyer Wins Millie Fox Stakes

Arrowfield Stud stallion & former Australian champion sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added a group success when 5YO mare Montana Flyer (Flying Spur-Montana Downs, by Bluebird) scored a half-head victory in the $125,000 Gr3 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) for fillies & mares at Rosehill to claim this race for the 2nd successive year. Montana Flyer (ridden by Tommy Berry for trainer Gai Waterhouse) defeated favoured 4YO mare Graceful Anna (Canny Lad-Lamellar, by Grand Lodge) & fellow 5YO mare Jersey Lily (Catbird-Smytzer's Roylani, by Royal Academy). Montana Flyer took her record to 4 wins (also including 2010's Gr3 Millie Fox Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill & 2008's Gr2 Roman Consul Stakes over 1200m) & 7 placings (including 2010's Gr1 Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill, Gr2 Breeders Classic over 1200m at Randwick & Gr3 Research Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill, plus 2008's Gr3 Wonderful World Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley & Listed Lexus Stakes over 1400m at Flemington) from 25 starts for $482,025 earnings.
