Sepoy Wins Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes

Monday, 28th February 2011

Former Darley shuttler Elusive Quality (Gone West-Touch Of Greatness, by Hero's Honor) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when Sheikh Mohammed's unbeaten colt Sepoy (Elusive Quality-Watchful, by Danehill) maintained his perfect record & slaughtered his rivals by 4.25-lengths in the $1 million Patinack Farm Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Caulfield in Melbourne. Hot favourite Sepoy (ridden by Kieren McEvoy for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated the filly Hallowell Belle (Starcraft-Bella Inez, by Beautiful Crown) & fellow colt Masthead (Written Tycoon-Balsamico, by Redoute's Choice). Sepoy now has 4 wins (also including last start's Gr3 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100m at Caulfield on February 12 & January's Listed Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Preview over 1000m at Caulfield, plus 2010's Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes over 1000m at Flemington) from 4 starts for $812,250 earnings.
