Vesper Wins Victoria Gold Cup

NZ Cambridge Stud's multiple champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) added a black-type success (& 135th individual stakes-winner) when favoured 4YO gelding Vesper (Zabeel-Sylvaner, by Danasinga) scored a 1-length victory in the $100,000 Listed Victoria Gold Cup (2000m) at Caulfield. Vesper (ridden by Nicholas Hall for trainer Robert Hickmott) defeated 5YO gelding Port Vell (Pins-Melody D'Amour, by Centaine) & 6YO gelding Down Under Boy (Ne Coupez Pas-Up Over Girl, by Western Symphony). Vesper (a $300,000 yearling consigned by Arrowfield Stud at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 4 wins & 4 placings from 11 starts for $162,050 earnings.
