NSW Bookie John Dignam Retires After 40 Years

Leading Kembla Grange bookmaker John Dignam "has retired after almost 40 years standing at NSW South Coast race meetings," reported racenet.com.au. Dignam (who worked as a bookmaker's clerk in the late 1950s & 1960s for prominent Sydney Rails bagman Digger Lobb) commenced his own bookmaking business in 1973, shortly after moving to Kiama on the south coast of NSW.
