Golden Archer Wins Street Ice Cream Stakes

Monday, 7th March 2011

European Horse-Of-The-Year & 7-time Gr1-winning Coolmore shuttler Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill-Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest) added a juvenile black-type success when top-weighted colt Golden Archer (Rock Of Gibraltar-Viennetta, by Pins) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed Streets Ice Cream Stakes (1400m) at Flemington. Golden Archer (ridden by Luke Nolen for trainer Peter Moody) scored by a nose from the gelding Kid Kobe (Snippetson-Koba Brightia, by Danewin) with a further short-head to favoured filly Fortune Of War (General Nediym-Pretty Penny, by Encosta De Lago). Golden Archer (an $80,000 yearling consigned by Sefton Park Stud at the 2010 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) took his record to 4 wins (also including February's Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes over 1200m at Launceston) & 1 placing (in January's Listed Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Preview over 1000m at Caulfield) from 5 starts for $249,400 earnings.
