Launay Wins TAB 50th Birthday Stakes

Darley Stud's 11-time Gr1-winning World Champion Miler & Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year Lonhro (Octagonal-Shadea, by Straight Strike) added a black-type success (& 21st individual stakes-winner) when favoured 4YO gelding Launay (Lonhro-Eve In Seychelles, by Palace Music) scored a 3-lengths victory in the $125,000 Listed TAB 50th Birthday Stakes (1000m) at Flemington. Launay (ridden by Kerrin McEvoy for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated 7YO geldings Orbit Express (Dangerous-Look For Venus, by Ideal Planet) & top-weight Danzylum (Danzero-Political Asylum, by Plush). Launay took his record to 6 wins & 4 placings (including last month's Listed Hareeba Stakes over 1200m at Mornington & 2010's Gr2 Queensland Guineas over 1600m at Eagle Farm) from 13 starts for $359,238 earnings.
