1st Winner For Freshman Shuttler Amadeus Wolf
In Scotland, Gr1-winning & triple Gr1-placed 8YO freshman stallion & Chatswood Stud shuttler Amadeus Wolf (Mozart-Rachelle, by Mark Of Esteem) recorded his 1st winner when Irish-bred 2YO colt Hamza (Amadeus Wolf-Lady Shanghai, by Alhaarth) led all-the-way to score by 3.25-lengths on debut over 5 furlongs at Musselburgh for trainer Kevin Ryan. Hamza was a €26,000 (A$36,000) weanling at the 2009 Goffs November Sale & subsequently a £25,000 (A$39,000) yearling at the 2010 Doncaster August Sale. Amadeus Wolf (from the only crop sired by outstanding sprinter Mozart & whose dam Rachelle is a winning half-sister to Gr1 Oaks d'Italia runner-up Rose Violet) won both 2005's UK Gr1 Middle Park Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newmarket & UK Gr2 Gimcrack Stakes (6 furlongs) at York, plus finishing runner-up in the UK Gr2 Coventry Stakes (6 furlongs) at York to end the year as joint 3rd-highest-rated 2YO in Europe. In 2006 he added Gr1-placings in France's Gr1 Prix Maurice De Gheest (1300m) at Deauville, UK Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes (5 furlongs) at York & UK Gr1 Sprint Cup (6 furlongs) at Haydock Park. And in 2007 he won the UK Gr2 Duke Of York Stakes (6 furlongs) at York. Amadeus Wolf covered 61 mares at Chatswood Stud last year at a fee of $11,000.
