Aust-Bred Hold It Harvey Wins NZ Awapuni Cup

Former Widden Stud shuttler & now South Australian Rivers End Stud-based stallion King Cugat (Kingmambo-Tricky Game, by Majestic Light) added a NZ group success when Australian-bred 6YO gelding Hold It Harvey (King Cugat-Daly Charm, by Best Western) scored a 3.75-lengths victory in the NZ$85,000 weight-for-age Gr2 Awapuni Gold Cup (2000m) at Awapuni. Hold It Harvey (ridden by Jamie Bullard for trainer Terri Rae) defeated 5YO mares Dawn Ghost (Pyrus-Lucadore, by Wild Rampage) & Can't Keeper Down (Keeper-Ashley Downs, by Grosvenor). Hold It Harvey (a $16,000 yearling consigned from Baramul Stud at the 2006 Magic Millions National Sale) now has 13 wins (also including March's Gr3 Rich Hill Stud Thompson Handicap over 1600m at Trentham & February's Gr3 White Robe Lodge Stakes over 1600m at Wingatui, plus 2010's Gr3 White Robe Lodge Stakes over 1600m at Wingatui & Listed Timaru Stakes over 1400m at Riccarton Park, as well as 2009's Listed Timaru Stakes over 1400m at Riccarton Park, in addition to 2007's Listed Ray Coupland Stakes over 1400m at Ashburton & Listed Canterbury Stakes over 1600m at Riccarton Park) & 18 placings (including both 2010's Gr1 Otaki-Maori Weight-For-Age Classic over 1600m at Otaki & Gr2 Coupland's Bakeries Mile over 1600m at Riccarton Park, plus 2009's Gr3 Christchurch Casino Easter Cup Stakes over 1600m at Riccarton Park & Gr3 White Robe Lodge Handicap over 1600m at Wingatui, as well as 2008's Listed Dunedin Guineas over 1400m at Wingatui & Listed Southland Guineas over 1600m at Ascot Park) from 52 starts for NZ$554,675 earnings.
