Aust-Bred Picollo Son Wins Hong Kong Gr2

In Hong Kong yesterday, former Eureka Stud shuttler Piccolo (Warning-Woodwind, by Whistling Wind) added a Gr2 success when Australian-bred 4YO gelding Flying Blue (Piccolo-Bright Blue, by Scenic) won the HK$3 million (A$375,000) Gr2 Chairmans Trophy (1600m) at Sha Tin. Flying Blue (ridden by Douglas Whyte for Australian trainer John Size) defeated 6YO gelding Thumbs Up (Shinko King-Regelle, by Expoding Prospect) & 7YO gelding Sight Winner (Faltaat-Kinjinette, by Kinjite). Flying Blue (a NZ$80,000 yearling at the 2008 NZB Select Sale at Karaka) took his record to 4 wins & 3 runners-up from 7 starts.
