Monday, 4th April 2011

Triple Gr1-winning Independent Stallion Victoria sire & former champion Australian 3YO colt Helenus (Helissio-Worldwide Elsie, by Java Gold) added a Gr1 triumph when 4YO gelding Cedarberg (Helenus-Infrared, by Spectrum) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the $2.25 million weight-for-age Gr1 The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill. Cedarberg (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Pat Carey) defeated front-running 5YO entire Mourayan (Alhaarth-Mouramara, by Kahyasi) & fellow 4YO gelding Linton (Galileo-Our Heather, by Centaine). Cedarberg (passed-in for $32,500 when consigned by Wyadup Valley Farms at the 2008 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale) took his record to 4 wins & 4 placings (including February's Listed Mornington Cup over 2400m & 2010's Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes over 2400m at Caulfield) from 15 starts for $1,498,917 earnings.
