Mekong Miss Wins Miss Andretti Stakes

WA sire Ihtiram (Royal Academy-Welsh Love, by Ela Mana Mou) added a black-type success when 6YO mare Mekong Miss (Ihtiram-Balmerigia, by Balmerino) gained the judge's decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed Miss Andretti Stakes (1200m) at Ascot. Mekong Miss (ridden by Takahide Ikenushi for trainer David Harrison) scored by a short-neck from 7YO gelding Escadaire (O'Reilly-Escada, by Centaine) with a further short-halfhead to 5YO gelding Henry De Horse (Gambade-Beat The Price, by Pricelessly). Mekong Miss (a $22,000 weanling at the 2007 Magic Millions WA July Sale in Perth) took her record to 11 wins (also including 2010's Listed Bunbury Stakes over 1400m) & 4 placings from 31 starts for $357,850 earnings.
