Monday, 4th April 2011

Former Darley shuttler Elusive Quality (Gone West-Touch Of Greatness, by Hero's Honor) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum's home-bred colt Sepoy (Elusive Quality-Watchful, by Danehill) scored a 2-lengths victory in the world's richest juvenile race, the $3.5 million Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Favourite Sepoy (ridden by Kieren McEvoy for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated the fillies Mosheen (Fastnet Rock-Sumehra, by Stravinsky) & Elite Falls (More Than Ready-Niagara Falls, by Danehill). Sepoy now has 4 wins (also including both February's Gr1 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield & Gr3 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100m at Caulfield & January's Listed Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Preview over 1000m at Caulfield, plus 2010's Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes over 1000m at Flemington) & a runner-up (in last start's Gr2 Todman Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill on March 19) from 5 starts for $2,905,500 earnings.
