Syreon Wins Queen's Cup

Arrowfield Stud stallion & former Australian Champion Sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added another group success (& 82nd individual stakes-winner, followed by his 83rd in Perth latert on the same afternoon with Bliss Street: reported in previous item) when 7YO gelding Syreon (Flying Spur-Sorrento, by Just A Dancer) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $125,000 Gr3 Queen's Cup (2000m) at Rosehill. Syreon (ridden by Glyn Schofield for trainer Chris Waller) scored by a head from 6YO gelding Beijing Boy (Yamanin Vital-Mega Babe, by Personal Escort) with a further neck to favoured 4YO gelding Base (Zabeel-Tall Story, by Carnegie). Syreon (a $100,000 yearling consigned by Vinery Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) took his record to 6 wins & 7 placings (including March's Listed Sky High Stakes over 1900m at Rosehill) from 23 starts for $274,250 earnings.
