US Gr1-Winner Street Hero Not Shuttling In 2011
US Gr1-winning 5YO stallion Street Hero (Street Cry-Squall Linda, by Summer Squall) who stood his 1st season at Dr Tom Simon's Vinery in Kentucky in 2009 before shuttling to Tony Santic's Makybe in Victoria for his initial Southern Hemisphere breeding season, will not shuttle to Australia this year. Vinery president Tom Ludt confirmed: "The decision to keep Street Hero here (in the US) this year was mutually made by the syndicate members. After reviewing & considering all the options, we felt taking 1 hemisphere off might be in the best interest of the stallion. He has bred for 2 consecutive years in both hemispheres & not all stallions can do this continuously." Makybe's Deslee Santic added: "We support the decision of Vinery & other syndicate members not to shuttle Street Hero for this season & are looking forward to his return in 2012. As a shareholder & studmaster who holds the Southern Hemisphere breeding rights, it's in everyone's best interest to maintain the integrity of the stallion, ensuring he is around for many years to come, especially after inspecting his 2010 weanlings which will be presented for sale at various yearling sales next year." Street Hero (rated 4th top 2YO on the US 2008 Experimental Free Handicap) recorded placings in all 6 of his career starts during 2008, including victory in the Gr1 Norfolk Breeders' Cup Stakes (8.5 furlongs on all-weather) at Santa Anita, plus 3rd in both the Gr1 Del Mar Futurity (7 furlongs on all-weather) & Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (8.5 furlongs on all-weather) at Santa Anita.
